CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION

JBPT publishes results of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) only if they comply with ICMJE recommendations. Manuscripts must include a prospective trial registration number, which should be stated at the end of the abstract. Retrospectively registered trials or unregistered trials will not be considered, and pilot studies are not eligible as RCTs or original articles.

A clinical trial is defined by ICMJE as any research project that prospectively assigns individuals or groups to an intervention, with or without a control or comparison group, to evaluate the cause-and-effect relationship between a health-related intervention and a health outcome. Health-related interventions include drugs, devices, surgical procedures, behavioural or educational programs, dietary interventions, quality improvement initiatives, or process-of-care changes. Health outcomes include any biomedical or health-related measures obtained in participants, including pharmacokinetics and adverse events.

JBPT accepts trials registered in ICMJE-approved registries, including primary registries of the WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP), ClinicalTrials.gov, and trials approved by the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP). Other recognized registries listed on the ICMJE website are also acceptable.
