AUTHORSHIP POLICY

Responsibility of Authors & Criteria

All listed authors are collectively and individually accountable for the scientific integrity, accuracy, and originality of the manuscript. JBPT strictly follows the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines to describe authorship criteria and to resolve authorship disputes before and after publication, respectively.

Strict Authorship List Freeze:
Only the corresponding author communicates with the journal and ensures that all co-authors have approved the submission, authorship sequence, and affiliations. JBPT does not permit any changes to the author list (including additions, deletions, or reordering) after the initial submission. Any requests for modifications prior to this point require written approval from all authors and must be formally communicated to the Editor.

Author Contributions & Corresponding Author Roles

Authors are highly encouraged to include a contribution statement specifying each author’s exact role as per ICMJE. Contributors who do not meet the formal authorship criteria should be acknowledged separately in the Acknowledgments section. The corresponding author must ensure complete confidence in the integrity of all team contributions.

The corresponding author manages the manuscript throughout the submission, review, and publication process. This includes the timely circulation of the final layout proof to co-authors and the meticulous verification of names, affiliations, and contact details. Post-publication corrections for errors or ethical issues require explicit consent from all authors, with any dissenting opinions documented transparently.

Affiliations, Consortia, and Deceased Authors

Author Address & Affiliation: Manuscripts must list the primary institution where the research work was conducted. Present addresses for authors that differ from where the work was carried out should be included in the submission document as a separate footnote path.
† Deceased Authors: Deceased authors should be included with a death dagger (†) next to their name. A corresponding footnote must be included stating that the author is deceased and providing the exact date of death (for example: †Deceased 1 January 2026).
Consortium Authorship: Consortium members who formally agree to take public responsibility for the work should be clearly identified in the main author line, while other secondary corporate contributors are acknowledged separately.

Reviewer Suggestions & Confidentiality

Manuscripts, internal datasets, and review reports must be kept strictly confidential prior to official journal publication. Authors are expected to avoid publicizing details of their work to safeguard the integrity of the tracking loop.

Reviewer Suggestions: Authors may suggest up to three potential reviewers with proven expertise in the field during submission. Suggested reviewers must have no conflict of interest with any of the authors or the work under evaluation. The JBPT editorial team retains final, unconditional authority for all reviewer selection and assignments.
